Virtual College, a leading provider of e-Learning in the UK with over 850,000 learners has worked with Lincoln Integrated Domestic Abuse Services (LIDAS) to develop an app aimed at providing useful information for people worried about their abusive behaviour towards their partner or family member.
The app contains information and advice for both adult males and females in an easy to understand and accessible format.
Although a commonly used phrase, the extent to which ‘Domestic Abuse’ affects a large percentage of the population is largely not understood. For every three victims of domestic abuse, two will be female and one will be male. Every 3 days a woman will be killed by her partner and every 17 days a man will be killed by his.
The app gives practical support to those worried about their own abusive behaviour and shows how to recognise the signs of abuse either in their own relationship or in someone close to them. The app covers topics like advice on fair arguing and dealing with difficult situations without resorting to abuse. It also provides contact details for a raft of local and national support agencies.
